"Made in Spain" stamp on Dior wallets
Hello, everyone.
I have a story to tell. Today I've got a Dior Eden wallet in black patent leather from my client.
It was absolutely new with full authentic packaging. The wallet itself was OK. But...when i saw its date code I was a little bit shocked.
Instead of the usual MADE IN ITALY stamp it - much to my surprise - said MADE IN SPAIN. The code was not in let's say "usual format" which reads two digits "dash" two digits "dash" four digits (See the examples below)
But it was like this one below (two digits two letters "space" four digits)
I was a little bit confused. First, I know (feel) based on years of experience that this is an authentic wallet. Second, this is my good and trusted client. THE ONLY thing that raised my concerns was this stamp!
I saw similar stamps on vintage Dior saddle bags and I know that some bags are being made in France. But wallets!? I saw them a lot and never came across a wallet issued in Spain.
And you know what? After couple of hours of searching I finally found several Dior SLGs with a similar date codes. One of them was sold on 100% trusted resale platform.
It was the only issue bothering me in this particular wallet as the other details are perfectly fine.
Some of the codes I found during my extensive online research:
